Our Initiatives

AADT Initiatives

In addition to performances, AADT has the following initiatives for our troupe members and local community!

Internal Show

Established in Fall 2021, the Internal Show is a semesterly opportunity for AADT members to showcase their dance talents to the troupe community in an intimate, semi-formal setting! With no auditions and small groups of up to 5-6 allowed, the show allows members to polish and share their dance passion projects with a supportive audience. It also grants room for experimentation and requires less commitment than Horizon or Eastbound.

AADT x AllStars

Established in Fall 2025, AADT members have worked with AllStars Learning, a non-profit organization dedicated to “social, life and vocational skills for neurodiverse students.” In workshops that happen every two weeks, troupe members and children stretch, laugh, and learn new ways to move! AllStars is part of AADT’s broader initiative to engage with people of all ages and the local community beyond dance teams in the area.

Workshops

AADT hosts year-round workshops open to the Harvard community! In these up to two-hour-long sessions, an AADT member (often in collaboration with another dance group!) teaches their original choreography to any music (not just by Asian artists). Workshops happen on and off-campus during the school year and summer, including California and New York. They are also an opportunity for alumni to share their love of performance with new and current members, and showcase different genres, such as contemporary and breakdancing.

Community Building

One of the core values of AADT is building community within and across dances. Past socials have included:

  • Boba making

  • Dumpling social

  • Karaoke

  • Senior Send-Off

  • AADT Gala

  • and more!
